LDM (loading metre)
A meter of cargo space , calculated as the product of the total width of the trailer and one meter in length. Most often the width of a trailer is 2.4 meters, so 1 LDM - 2.4 m2.
LDM calculations can be made using the goodloading.com application.
LDM is used to accurately determine not only the efficiency, but also the transport capacity. The determination is possible by taking into account the variables: cargo weight and distance. LDM can be specified in tons per kilometer or in other units (geolocation-specific). Most often, LDM is used in the calculation of bulk cargo and heavy cargo (grains, energy materials: oil, coal, other raw materials). Widespread use of LDM is in the logistics industry, industry and trade, thanks to this calculation methodology helps in the selection of laternative methods of transporting cargo.
