Customs fastening rope

Customs fastening rope, also known as a customs seal, is one of the most important transportation security features. If it has not been broken, it means that the cargo has not been opened, and its use provides additional protection against theft. Therefore, it is a very practical solution, which is always worth using in the transport industry - mainly in order to avoid any misunderstandings between the shipper, carrier, receiver and the customs office.

Transport wire - what is it?

Transport wire is a thin rope woven from steel wires or very strong strings, which guarantees its high resistance to damage. This element is designed for attaching tarpaulin edges to the side of the vehicle body. Special clips are placed at the ends of the customs fastening rope, which allows easy and quick closing and sealing of the load bed. How to properly seal the semi-trailer with the transport wire is very important. First, uncoil and pull it through the front tensioner rings and then through each trailer ring. Finally, simply pull the customs fastening rope through the rear tensioner rings and through the door locks. Transport wires are mainly available in two diameter sizes (6 and 8 mm).

What is the customs fastening rope used for?

Customs fastening rope serves primarily to effectively secure the transported cargo, and its high strength and resistance to damage ensure that unauthorized persons will not gain access to it. This solution is of great importance during customs control, and customs officers, police officers, and port company employees are authorized to remove the transport wire. Although it is a very small item, it is worth buying and choosing a high-quality model, which will prove reliable in the most difficult conditions. It is worth knowing that every breach or damage of the customs fastening rope is a clear indication that a stranger might have had access to the transported cargo, therefore every severance of the rope should be marked on the CMR document (International Consignment Note), which will prove that it was done by authorized persons under strict control and, most importantly, in justified circumstances. In such a situation, the driver is also obliged to draw up a special protocol, which will contain the most important information. Among them are the place of loading, the number of seals, and the reason for their possible breach. These data should be given to both the sender of the goods, the recipient, and the transport company.
